Game 1 - 
Game 2Hampton, Va. - The Lady Pirates of Hampton University’s softball team handed Coppin State back-to-back losses in the Lady Eagles MEAC season opening double-header on Saturday, March 15th by scores of 20-4 and 12-1 at CSU’s Randazzo Park. 
With the win, the Lady Pirates move to 6-8 on the season while the Lady Eagles fall to 0-8 on the year. 
The Pirates scored 9 of their 20 runs in the first three innings of the first game game. Coppin finally got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third inning by freshman Stephanie Watts and senior Mia Willis. 
Hampton, in the top of the fifth inning, scored 8 runs setting the team’s season high for most runs in an inning. Willis and Watts would score one more time in the bottom of the fifth inning giving the Eagles their last two runs of the game. Watts concluded the game with two runs and three hits while Willis finished with two runs and two hits. 
In the second game, Coppin struggled at bat finishing with only five hits. Hampton started the game with two runs and three hits in the top of the first. Coppins first run would come in the bottom of the second inning by Coralys Del Mar Rivera. Del Mar Rivera Led off the bunting for a hit, then stealing second base and proceeding to third on a lineout by Jade Dudley. Hampton would see its last five runs in the top of the fourth off of CSU’s starting pitcher Nichae Alston who pitched all ten innings in this double-header. 
Next up for the Lady Pirates will be their match-up against the Lady Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State on Tuesday, March 18th. This double header action is set to start at 1:00 p.m. at the Lady Pirates Softball Field located behind Armstrong Stadium.
